Switching Between Accounts

Last updated 6 months ago

Who this is for

Any user who has more than one account.

In Time Squared, when you sign up you create a β€˜user’. You can then create different accounts under your user.

We have two types of accounts:

  • Individual account, which for people who just want to manage their own time

  • Team accounts, for companies and teams.

See full detail of account types here.

It’s possible for a single user to have one individual account and be a part of one or more team accounts.

This guide will show you how to switch between those various accounts.

Video guide

In this video, I explain how to switch between different accounts or teams.

After you sign up, your user can be connected to multiple accounts, including individual and team accounts. For example you might join multiple teams.

To switch accounts, simply go to the Settings tab, scroll down to "Switch Company," and you'll see the available accounts linked to your user.

I also mention that you can add a new company or join a new team from this section.

Finally I demonstrate switching accounts on the web app.

0:00 Let's talk about how you can switch teams. So what, let me tell you what I mean by that. When you create your account, you, uh, sign in with, let's say you sign up with, say, Google, uh, or User Pass, or, uh, Apple ID.

0:19 When you do that, you're signing up and creating a user in our system. Now, your user could be connected to multiple, teams, or let's say accounts, and the accounts that we have could be either a team account, or it could be an individual account.

0:36 The individual account is just to for personal use. The team account is if you're part of a team or company, and there's multiple people, and the times tracked by people in the team are visible by the owners and managers of that team.

0:53 And let's come back to my original question. How do we switch between these different accounts that we have? So to do that, you would go into the Settings tab, scroll all the way down, and you would get to Switch Company.

1:14 When you hit Switch Company, it would show you the different accounts under your user, And I'll see And, for example, here I have an individual account.

1:22 That's what I was in before, so it says currently active. And I also have this other one where I have an ex-employee account where I used to be part of a company, and now I've left.

1:33 Even though I've left, I still have access to my times from that account. similarly from here I can go back to settings, switch company, you can even add a new company or account from here or join a new team that's basically how it is it is done.

1:54 Here on the web app, you would have this button up here. That's where you can do search company and it would give you the companies that you're part of where you can switch between them or set up a new one, or set up a new team.

2:09 I think on the web app we refer to teams as companies still, but we may update that going forward. yeah, that's basically it.
