Video guide

In this video, I explain how to create separate time sheets for different employers as a freelancer by utilizing the project feature.

I walk you through the process of adding entries for each job and generating reports from the projects tab instead of the time sheet tab.

It's important to note that while this method is effective, it has limitations regarding overtime rules, as they won't apply when viewing project times. Overtime rules are only applied and shown when viewing times from the Time sheets tab.

0:00 Okay, so I've been asked how to make different timesheets to send to different employers as a freelancer. It's very straightforward.

0:11 Uh, we basically manage this by using projects. So let's say you're adding a new entry. You would use the project field.

0:20 So we've got job project or client, you do first job. And you can add your entry in there. And then when you're adding in your second, uh, job or client, you do something else.

0:30 Let's say we do, uh, second, uhm, job. This one's 50 dollars or 50 pounds. And then to make the entry, the actual timesheet, instead of going through the timesheet tab down here, you would instead go to the projects tab.

0:54 From there, uh, you can select the project, uhm, if you wanna do a, uh, a, a report, you can view by pay period or weekly.

1:08 Let's say I wanna look at this recent one. And from here you have the make report, which is basically the same timesheet that you would generate from the timesheet tab.

1:16 You can do this for multiple periods, you can do for a custom period, or, uh, yeah. So basically you can select as many as you want, or just dig into it and select one.

1:28 Uh, and for your second job, you would go back again, project tab, select the other one, same story. And that's how you can, uh, I create separate.

1:39 timesheets for different jobs. The, there are a few limitations to using this approach. Uh, one is, when using, uh, when, if you have overtime rules set up, like wait, daily or weekly over time.

2:01 Those things will be calculated. And shown to you in the timesheet tab. And when you're looking at, at, at your times in the projects tab, those things won't be, uh, shown.

2:11 Uhm, just cause, when you're looking at a project, you're separating out times, doesn't really make sense to apply, uh, the overtime rules to them.

2:22 And, uhm, similar to that, we only handle, we only have one set of overtime rules. Uhm, you can't have multiple, uh, overtime rules for different companies.

2:35 So, uh, this method of using projects to handle different employers only works You if you're not using overtime. Or you could do it and then handle overtime separately outside of Times Square.

2:50 Uhm, and yeah, I think that covers everything. Alright.
